Ryan Adams' shows in Dublin, which were scheduled for the end of this month, have been cancelled, with the American singer-songwriter also scrapping all his UK dates following allegations of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse made against him by women in a New York Times report.

Promoter MCD has said that ticket purchasers will receive full refunds from authorised outlets that will be processed by "end of day on Monday".

The tour cancellation follows allegations published by The New York Times of Adams inappropriately texting an underage girl over a nine-month period starting in late 2014. The FBI is investigating the allegations. In a statement through his lawyer, Adams has denied that he "ever engaged in inappropriate online sexual communications with someone he knew was underage".

He is also facing further allegations of emotional abuse and sexual misconduct made by other women who also spoke to The New York Times. Adams described the New York Times article as "upsettingly inaccurate" and apologised to "anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally".

The 44-year-old singer-songwriter from North Carolina had planned to release three albums this year, with the first, Big Colors, due on April 19. It has since been shelved.
