The gorillas in Dublin Zoo received their first colour television on February 27, 1976 - but one resident was determined that he would be the star of the show.
Reporter Michael Walsh went to the Phoenix Park to meet Zookeeper Michael Clark and friends.
While many people still had black-and-white televisions at home, the gorillas were enjoying the colour experience, with their favourite shows including horse racing, car racing, football and Sesame Street.
One viewer managed to prise himself away from the box for a minute and was more than ready for his close-up, as you can see in the video above.
