Peter Stringer may have bowed out of Dancing with the Stars following Sunday night's dance-off loss to Clelia Murphy, but the former rugby star went out with a smile on his face.
Along with professional dance partner Ksenia Zsikhotska he danced an American Smooth to New York, New York on the night the RTÉ Concert Orchestra provided the music to inspire the dancers.
"Obviously we were gutted to have left the show," Stringer told RTÉ Entertainment this morning. "But what an experience it's been - and what a journey. We're looking back on it with incredible memories. It's been an amazing journey.
"We're very proud of what we've done in the last couple of months and to go out on the show last night, orchestra, big band number like New York, New York, in the dance-off and putting in a good performance, we're happy - but disappointed."
As well as putting in a good shift in his final night on the show, Stringer also reckoned his Dancing with the Stars partnership with Ksenia ended on a bit of a high.
"And that's the way you want to do it," he says. "Our second dance was much better, we loosened up, and we relaxed and we just said we'd go for it, gave it everything we had.
"If that's the last time that I ever dance, then I can look back on it with some great memories."
