Her character met a rather unfortunate end on EastEnders seven years ago but now actress Cheryl Fergison says she wants to return to soap land with a role on Fair City - and she says she doesn’t mind if she’s killed off again.

Cheryl played George Michael uber fan Heather Trott on the BBC soap from 2007 to 2012 before her character was offed by Ben Mitchell.

The actress was in Dublin today on a publicity jaunt for Menopause: The Musical, which runs at The Gaiety from April 1st to 6th, and found time to pay a visit to the Fair City set in RTÉ.

In a post on her Instagram account, she said: "Okay everyone I am here in Dublin. I am promoting Menopause: The Musical, but today I am on the set of Fair City.

"Look, there is everything. There is the Spar and everything."

She appealed for a six-month stint on the soap, adding that she didn't mind being killed off. "I think that you guys should give me a little job on Fair City and I should be on it," she said.

"Somebody who passes through for about six months and maybe gets killed off again?

"I don't mind as long as I do it. That would be fantastic. Come on Fair City, get me on. My foot is almost in the door."

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment, Brigie de Courcy, Executive Producer of Fair City, said: "We are extremely flattered that such a prolific and talented actress came to visit Carrigstown. We’re delighted to count Cheryl among our fans and you’d never know what might happen in the future!"

As well as her love for George Michael, Heather Trott, who had a baby with teenager Darren Miller on EastEnders, also had a fondness for cheese and karaoke.
