American punk rockers Green Day are selling off over 100 items of their old gear on Reverb, a website where musicians buy and sell used, vintage, and new musical instruments and gear online.
The sale is being launched on February 7th, and among the items for sale are a guitar used on the band's Dookie album, speaker cabinets used at Woodstock ‘94, drum kits that have toured the world, vintage bass amps and various items of recording gear.
"Every guitar has its own character," reckons Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. "Each one reflects who you are - the kind of songwriter you are, the kind of guitar player that you are.
"Used guitars, in particular, come with a history to them. I love the character you can see looking at a fretboard that’s been used. After 30 years of collecting odds and ends and really good stuff, I have to sell some of it off."

Having been around for over 30 years - Green Day originally formed in 1986 - the Californian threesome have accumulated a lot of band-related bits and pieces.
"If you hoard the right sh*t long enough, they call you a collector," Armstrong notes. "So I’m selling off just a wee bit of the collection. I’m not doing it any justice sitting around when someone could be using this stuff."
"I haven’t really sold anything ever - this is the first time," added drummer Tre Cool. "I"m probably just going to buy all this stuff back at like three in the morning, because I’m going to have a hard time parting with it."
