The Favourite, which was co-produced by Dublin company Element Pictures, has tied with Mexican drama Roma for the most nominations - 10.
Among The Favourite's nominations are Best Picture, Director (Yorgos Lanthimos), Actress (Olivia Colman) and Supporting Actress (Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz), with Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan also shortlisted for his work on the black comedy.

Kilkenny's Cartoon Saloon is celebrating its nomination in the Best Animated Short Category with Late Afternoon, while Irish filmmaker Vincent Lambe is among the nominees for Best Live Action Short for his controversial film Detainment, which is based on the police transcripts from the James Bulger case.

The nominees for Best Actress are: Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).

Christian Bale (Vice), Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity's Gate), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book) are the nominees for Best Actor.

The Oscars take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday February 24.
