EastEnders has revealed that troubled character Ben Mitchell will be returning to the soap in the Spring, with actor Max Bowden becoming the sixth actor to play the role.

Ben will be back in Albert Square with partner Lola and daughter Lexi, but the storyline has not been released.

"Joining one of the most iconic families in soap is beyond exciting," said actor Bowden. "I can't wait to get started and see what's in store for Ben."

Ben was most recently portrayed by the actor Harry Reid from 2014 to 2018.

Last week, EastEnders announced that Robert Kazinsky will reprise his role as Albert Square rogue Sean Slater after a decade away from the BBC soap, with the actor saying "social awareness" is at the centre of his new storyline.

EastEnders airs on RTÉ One and BBC One on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
