Production on the sixth season of 50 Cent's Starz show Power has been stopped after an accident on set led to the tragic death of a crew member.
Entertainment industry website Deadline reports that 63-year-old Pedro Jimenez, a longtime production assistant, was struck by an SUV in the early hours of Monday morning (December 10) in Brooklyn while he was setting up cones for filming.
A statement from the Starz network which airs the show said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our Power family.
"Our thoughts are with Mr. Jimenez’ family as we work to fully understand what has happened."
Production on the show was stopped after the accident and Jimenez's family were informed of his death immediately after he was pronounced dead by medical authorities at Brooklyn Hospital.
The police are investigating the incident and have spoken to the driver of the car that struck Jimenez, who is also believed to have been a member of the crew.
Jimenez had been with the series since its first day of production.
The drama series created by Courtney Kemp and executive produced by Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson debuted in 2014.
Jackson posted on Instagram about the tragedy, saying: "My prayers and condolences are with the entire Jimenez family."
Actor Omari Hardwick posted a lengthy statement on Instagram, in which he said: "NO team ever imagines losing a teammate. Let alone like this.
"On behalf of ALL of us here at Power, we send our deepest condolences to the entire Jimenez family & God, we ask that you warmly receive our good ole Pedro."
It is not known how long production on the show will be paused for.
