Old Vumman: Giving WHO?
Me: They think I'm funny. They think I'm a good storyteller
OV: .. YOU?
OV: ...am I to throw dim raspberries you left in the fridge?
This is the first time the popular limerick-born novelist has been commissioned to write her own series.
"What an opportunity - I was delighted to be asked. I love Radio 4, so many great stories and storytellers - and now me," Keys has said.
"It’ll be great fun to work with the fabulous Tara Flynn, too. We’ve so much in common and so much to talk about."
Steve Doherty, MD of Giddy Goat Productions, who will produce the show, said: "It’s rare to find such imaginative storytelling, gripping life experiences and a hugely engaging personality wrapped up in one, tiny, beautifully-shoed package - but that’s what we have with Marian. I’m really looking forward to working with her and presenting her to the BBC Radio 4 audience."
Two of Keyes’ novels, Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married and Watermelon, have previously been adapted for television.
Other high profile names involved in the new comedy commissions for BBC Radio 4 include Madness singer Suggs, comedian Joe Lycett, Rowan Atkinson, and Joanna Lumley.
