Singer Robin Thicke and Hollywood star Gerard Butler's homes are among those that have been destroyed by the wildfires in California.

Butler tweeted a picture of himself standing in front of the shell of a property that had been burnt to the ground on Sunday (November 11).

"Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating," the actor wrote.

"Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters."

Meanwhile, Robin Thicke's partner April Love Geary, who is pregnant, revealed that their house had been destroyed on Instagram stories.

"Our house is gone", she wrote along with a picture showing the front gate and the space where their home once was.

The day before, Thicke and Geary posted photos of billowing smoke near their home in Malibu.

"Our house is somewhere in there. I'm so sad but so thankful that we all made it out safe. Praying for everyone in Malibu, our city is up in flames," said Geary.

Thicke also shared a picture of his son on the beach with the caption: "Contemplating next move..."

At least 25 people have died in raging fires in California which have forced hundreds of thousands to flee their homes.

Many celebrities, including Kim Kardashian West, Will Smith and Caitlyn Jenner, had to evacuate their properties.

On Saturday (November 10), President Donald Trump blamed the fires on poor forest management and threatened to withdraw federal funding from the US Forest Service.

He tweeted: "There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor.

"Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!"

Popstar Katy Perry later criticised Trump's response to the wildfires as "absolutely heartless".

She wrote: "This is an absolutely heartless response. There aren't even politics involved. Just good American families losing their homes as you tweet, evacuating into shelters."

Singer Rod Stewart also tweeted a message aimed at Trump.

"Mr President, while people's homes are burning, while lives are being lost & while firefighters are risking their lives, California needs words of support & encouragement, not threats or finger pointing & accusations," said the British star. Where is Winston Churchill when you need him?"
