New EastEnders boss Kate Oates is promising that the show will full of drama - especially for the Mitchells and Tiffany Butcher.

Oates only began working at the soap a few weeks ago, but has revealed that she has some big plans for the residents of Albert Square.

Speaking to The Sun she said: "We’ve got some good Mitchell stuff on the storyboard, the Phil, Keanu, Sharon stuff is all very exciting.

"We’ve got some good stuff for Tiffany with her having taken herself into a dark world."

Oates also hinted at some of what will happen next year on Albert Square: "There is something that I’m thinking about that the audience could say is an issues-led storyline.

"I think it will be character led and the long-term arc will be character led but there’s definitely an issue there to discuss."

No stranger to the soap world, Kate Oates worked at Emmerdale before leaving her post at Coronation Street earlier this year.

The award-winning executive producer is noted for challenging storylines and has tackled subjects such as grooming gangs, male depression, rape and suicide.

It looks like things will be getting even livelier than usual down Albert Square way.
