Piers Morgan has been slammed by Captain America star Chris Evans for claiming it is "emasculating" for Daniel Craig to carry his son in a baby carrier.

The 53-year-old Good Morning Britain host hit out at the James Bond actor for using a papoose and took to social media to take aim at the star.

Tweeting a snap of the 007 actor taking a walk with his newborn daughter strapped to his chest, Morgan wrote: "Oh 007.. not you as well?!!!" He accompanied the post with the hashtag #emasculatedBond.

Morgan's tweet sparked outrage on the internet, with his comment even catching the eye of Marvel movie superhero, Evans.

Evan hit back at Morgan's post, saying: "You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child.

"Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside."

Piers replied: "Captain America wouldn't wear a papoose."

The broadcaster didn't let the matter sit and later tweeted, "Wearing a papoose doesn’t mean you ‘care’ more about your kids.."

He then posted a picture of himself in a tux and suggested he should play Bond.

"One thing’s clear after tonight’s ferocious Papoose-gate debate: we need a new James Bond. A 007 who looks sharp in a tux & wouldn’t be seen dead in a papoose…." the British presenter wrote.

Morgan and his ex-wife Marion Shalloe have three children together - sons Albert, 17, Spencer, 25,  and Stanley, 21. He is also father to six-year-old daughter Elise with wife Celia Walden.
