Emmerdale viewers were shocked on Friday night when it was unveiled who pushed Kim Tate at the charity masquerade ball at Home Farm.

After making a surprise return to the Dales, it wasn't long before acid-tongued Kim, played by actress Claire King, offended every single one of the guests and made a heap of solid enemies.

Before long, Kim was pushed down the stairs at the party and crashed onto the champagne fountain below, leaving onlookers stunned.

In Friday's episode, Charity and Faith were speaking about the incident, when Faith said everyone "wanted to give that witch a shove".

Connecting the dots, Charity questioned Faith's involvement, and Faith confessed to doing the deed.

Many viewers were shocked by this development.

Luckily, Kim survived the fall, but she was then sent to prison for driving without any car insurance.

However, it won't be the last viewers will see of Kim as it's been confirmed that she will return to the village next year after serving her sentence.

Actress Claire King said of Kim returning to Home Farm early next year: "You knew she wasn't going to go away quietly, so I'm so pleased to announce Kim will be back.

"It's been great fun keeping it under wraps but now she can really get down to business."

Executive producer Jane Hudson added: "Although Kim's initial return was fleeting, she caused such mischief and chaos that we simply couldn't resist bringing her back.

"Kim Tate is just getting warmed up for an explosive 2019 which will see her hell-bent on getting exactly what, and who, she wants."

Meanwhile, another mystery was also wrapped up on the soap on Friday as Debbie admitted to being involved in Ross's acid attack.

Debbie was arrested and confessed to her part in the devastating attack, saying: "Ross was never supposed to get hurt, but it's my fault that he did. The acid should never have happened."
