The former rap mogul Suge Knight has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for the death of a man in a hit-and-run incident in 2015.
The incident took place on January 29, 2015, in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant following a reported fight on the set of the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton. Fifty-five-year-old Terry Carter was killed, while another man, CleBone Sloan, survived his injuries.
In September, Knight pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal with prosecutors in Los Angeles.
The former Death Row Records co-founder had been facing life in prison after Carter's death and one count of attempted murder in Sloan's case.
Crystal Carter, a daughter of victim Terry Carter, addressed Knight during the hearing in an LA courthouse on Thursday (October 4)
She said: "You're unrepentant. Your callous actions took my dad's life away."
Terry Carter's widow told media that thinking about the crime still makes her "feel numb".
"I really don't want him to ever leave jail. I hope he spends the rest of his life there," she said.
Knight's attorneys had previously argued he was acting in self-defence and was fleeing armed attackers.
