Kate Hudson has given birth to her third child, a baby girl.

The Hollywood star announced the news that she and her partner Danny Fujikawa welcomed their daughter on October 2 on Instagram.

She posted a picture of her daughter's birth date, written in black on a pink background.

"She's here", Hudson wrote, along with some heart emojis.

The 39-year-old Almost Famous actress is already mother to two sons, Ryder Russell, 14, and seven-year-old Bingham Hawn, from previous relationships.

Hudson announced she was expecting her third child in April with an Instagram video where she appeared along with her partner and sons popping four huge balloons to reveal showers of pink confetti.

Last week, the star posted a picture from her baby shower along with the hashtag "WeReady".

Hudson revealed they were planning to name their daughter Rani Rose on Instagram, writing: "We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa.

"Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honour. Everyone is doing well and happy as can be.

"Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back."
