Strictly Come Dancing has revealed a new dance category, Couples' Choice, ahead of this weekend's launch show.

The Press Association reports that this year's 15 dancefloor hopefuls will be given the opportunity to choose from three styles of dance never previously performed by celebrities on the BBC One series.

The styles are: Contemporary, Street/Commercial and Theatre/Jazz.

The introduction of the new category is the first since the Charleston was added in 2009.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be back on BBC One this Saturday at 7:35pm

A Strictly spokesman said Couples' Choice will "give our celebrities and professional dancers an even greater opportunity to showcase their skills and for the show to celebrate even more styles of dance".

This year's Strictly line-up will see Susannah Constantine, Stacey Dooley, Vick Hope, Danny John-Jules, Katie Piper, Ashley Roberts, Lee Ryan and Kate Silverton competing for the glitteraball trophy.

They are joined by Dr Ranj Singh, Lauren Steadman, Joe Sugg, Graeme Swann, Faye Tozer, Charles Venn and Seann Walsh.

The show, presented by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, is back on BBC One on Saturday, September 8, at 7:35pm.
