9-1-1, 9.00pm, Sky Witness & NOW TV

Last week's pilot episode was pretty close to perfection, as is a cast that includes Angela Bassett, Connie Britton and Peter Krause. If you're looking for a pacy primetime drama that's as comfy as a favourite pair of slippers, stop right now.

A night at an amusement park takes a deadly turn in this second episode when a rollercoaster malfunction leaves lives hanging in the balance.

Meanwhile, Connie Britton's Abby is relieved after getting some help taking care of her mother. Also, Athena (Bassett) and Hen respond to an unusual home invasion, and a disputing couple lead to a dramatic rescue for Bobby (Krause).

Mary McAleese's Modern Family, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

As Ireland prepares to welcome Pope Francis to the World Meeting of Families, former Irish President Mary McAleese charts the changes that have occurred in the Irish family and in our relationship with the Catholic Church since the last historic papal visit

That was all of 39 years ago and in today’s Ireland, Mary McAleese encounters a hugely diverse spectrum of families, from whose experiences, supportiveness, compassion, love and tolerance she believes the Catholic Church could learn a lot.

The Whole World in his Hands, 10.00pm, TG4

More Pope-related programming, this special looks back at the visit of John Paul II, the first time a Pope ever stopped off in Ireland.

A wide variety of contributors - including President Michael D Higgins, Bishop Eamon Casey and Nell McCafferty - recall their memories of the visit, and reflect on how much Ireland has changed over the decades.

The Lenny Henry Birthday Show, 8.00pm, BBC One

In 1975, a 16 year-old Lenny Henry bunked off school to appear on TV talent show New Faces, and so began a long and glittering career in comedy, theatre and film.

As Lenny turns 60 it's the perfect excuse to celebrate the life and career of a man who has made a unique impact on British entertainment.

Hosted by Trevor McDonald in front of a studio audience, the programme takes a light-hearted look back at a career that started 43 years ago and hasn’t stopped since, as well presenting some brand new sketches on a range of topical subjects.

Horizon: Stopping Male Suicide, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK and causes more deaths in this group than car accidents, and even more than cancer.

This means that the most likely thing to kill Dr Xand Van Tulleken is himself. And he wants to know why.

In this sensitive film, he finds out what is known about why people develop suicidal thoughts, and whether there is anything that we can do about it.

Ending Tonight

The Real Marigold Hotel, 9.00pm, BBC One

After a month of testing the waters to see whether they could live a life of retirement in India, the group's stay is coming to an end. It is their final week of living at the Udaipur haveli.

The senior citizens make the most of their last week together, with some enjoying the last of what the local city has to offer while others are setting off on ventures further afield.

Marlon season 2, Netflix

Loosely based on the life of actor Marlon Wayans, who stars as the eponymous Marlon Wayne, a loving father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his very-together ex-wife, Ashley.

Season two sees Marlon still attempting to amicably co-parent with Ashley even though the two are polar opposites.

Hang Ups, 10.00pm, Channel 4

This has been a pretty good comedy so far as therapist Richard Pitt (Stephen Mangan) continues to struggle to cope with his new business and a mounting list of personal problems.

Neil (Steve Oram) continues his therapy sessions and reveals a little too much about his dark past, which leaves Richard fearing for his life. Does the answer to Richard's money troubles lie with new client Terry (Kevin Eldon)?

And with quality time with his wife, Karen (Katherine Parkinson), at a premium, would getting the snip be the answer to all their problems? Richard isn't so sure.
