Stephen Mangan in Hang Ups
Stephen Mangan in Hang Ups

Stephen Mangan stars in a new comedy called Hang Ups, it's season finale time for Get Shorty and The 100, while Mr Robot delivers another cracking episode . . .

Pick of the day

Hang Ups, 10.00pm, Channel 4

Here's new six-part comedy starring Stephen Mangan (who also co-wrote it) as Richard Pitt, a therapist with a chequered professional career who finds himself at a crossroads in life.

Adapted from the Emmy-nominated Web Therapy, about a self-professed psychotherapist with little patience for her patients, it boasts a superb cast that includes Richard E Grant, Jessica Hynes, David Tennant and Katherine Parkinson.

After the collapse of his previous group therapy practice, Richard Pitt (Mangan) is no longer able to conduct traditional sessions therapists have with their patients.

Instead, he's developed a new form of therapy - weekly quick-fire sessions with his patients which take place online, through a webcam.

Looks entertaining . . .

Ending Tonight

Get Shorty, 9.00pm, Sky Atlantic & NOW TV

After a slow-ish start, this has become a very enjoyable dramedy, with a hugely impressive Chris O'Dowd leading the pack in this TV adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel of the same name about a gangster trying to reinvent himself in Hollywood.

Miles (O'Dowd) faces a final reckoning at the conclusion of the first season, as he and his family must face his past, present and future head on as the film and those associated with it begin to unravel.

The 100, 9.00pm, E4

It's the fifth season finale of the post-apocalyptic US drama about *holds breath* a group of young survivors exiled from their dying 'Ark' in space to explore a devastated Earth.

Clarke and her friends must risk everything to fight one last battle for survival, only to glimpse an even darker threat to the last living valley on Earth.

90 Day Fiancé: What Now? 10.00pm, TLC

The fun concludes (well, I think it's funny: it's not my life) as Cortney confronts Antonio, who's in New York. Meanwhile, Daniella's meeting Nelson Doesn't go as planned.

Don't Miss

Mr Robot, 10.30pm, TG4

This has been widely regarded in the USA as one of the top TV episodes of 2017 (that's when it was originally broadcast over there).

Anyone here regularly knows I think this show about Elliot Alderson, a messed-up hacker on the fringes of all sorts of state-of-the-art lawfulness, is excellent. For the uninitiated, take a look-see tonight as it could change your view of telly forever.

Filmed like one long take (think: 2014 movie Birdman), it sees Elliot - with no memory of the past four days – heading to work the day of the UN vote. He realises he's been fired and that Stage 2 is going to happen today.
