Pick of the day

Better Call Saul, Netflix

This Emmy-nominated prequel to Breaking Bad is back for a fourth season and just keeps getting better and better as it follows small-time attorney Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) as he transforms into morally challenged lawyer Saul Goodman.

Chuck’s death catalyses Jimmy and in the wake of his loss, he takes steps into the criminal world that will put his future as a lawyer - and his relationship with Kim (Rhea Seehorn) - in jeopardy.

A superb cast includes Odenkirk, Seehorn, Jonathan Banks, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, and Giancarlo Esposito. No more Chuck so no more Michael McKean either.

New episodes will be available to download on a weekly basis each Tuesday morning.

Here's a featurette setting things up:

New or Returning Shows

John Hume in America, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

Narrated by Liam Neeson, here's the compelling story of Nobel Peace Prize winner John Hume's pursuit of a normalisation of the political process in Northern Ireland.

It also explains how the former Derry schoolteacher cultivated the support of a succession of US presidents to harness American support to forge peace on the island of Ireland.

Cuckoo, 11.20pm, BBC One

Craig Davies and Taylor Lautner return for a fourth run of this entertaining comedy as Dale is planning to propose to Rachel – but first he has to ask Ken.

Ken tells Dale he should try to get himself sorted out with a proper job first, while Ken has been nominated for Lichfield Lawyer of the Year. Unfortunately, Jane has been nominated too.

Horizon, 9.00pm, BBC Two

"To send a spacecraft there is a little bit insane," says Scott Bolton when talking about Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system.

But that is exactly what he has done, because Bolton is head of Juno, the Nasa mission designed to peer through Jupiter's swirling clouds. This documentary is narrated by Toby Jones and journeys with the scientists into the heart of the giant planet.

The Foreign Doctors are Coming, 10.00pm, Channel 4

With an ever-growing shortage of doctors in the UK's National Health Service, an increasing number need to be recruited, with non-nationals queuing up to plug the gaps.

Shot over ten months, this documentary follows doctors from Brazil to Egypt as they adjust to life in the UK, get to grips with a new health system, culture and language, and study for their exam.

I'm Dying Up Here, 10.10pm, Sky Atlantic

It's the second season of the so-so dramedy about a fictional group of competitive but close-knit, Los Angeles-based comedians mentored by a brassy comedy club owner who rules over her business with an iron fist but nurtures her comedians with tough love.

This run explores what happens once comedians get what they thought they wanted. Which relationships - which individuals - can survive the happiness killer that's success?

Don't Miss

The Good Fight, 9.30pm, RTÉ 2

We're now up to episode four of the opening season of this Good Wife sequel, as Diane and Lucca represent an ovarian cancer survivor looking to obtain custody of her previously donated embryos.

Meanwhile, Maia is the victim of a fake social media account and Mike Kresteva pays a visit to Reddick, Boseman & Kolstad.
