Presenter Carol Vorderman has shared her joy at being asked for identification while buying a bottle of wine.

The 57-year-old took to Twitter to express her delight, writing: "Omg.....I've just been asked for ID cos I was buying wine in @marksandspencer....M&S...You've just made an old Bird VERY happy...lol.."

She added: "Thought I'd drink my grape juice through a straw #ItsWhatKidsDo. I love the lady serving in @marksandspencer #IDRequest #Cambridge station."

In a day filled with mirth, she also revealed she had again been mistaken for fellow presenter Davina McCall.

"Just walking in Cambridge now," she recounted. "Bloke stops his bike. 'You're really famous. Can I have a selfie? I don't know your name though'."

After taking the selfie, the cyclist asked Vorderman's name and she replied "Davina."

He agreed, thanked 'Davina' and went on his way.
