Buffy the Vampire Slayer is to return to small screens with show creator Joss Whedon on board for a remake.
The supernatural drama ran from 1997 to 2003 and starred Sarah Michelle Gellar in the titular role, but a whole new cast will bring the story of Buffy to life in a "contemporary" adaptation.
Whedon will executive produce the series, with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D writer Monica Owusu-Breen also on board.

Gellar, who played the vampire-battling high school student Buffy, recently marked 21 years since the first episode of the show telling Entertainment Weekly, "It's the ultimate metaphor: horrors of adolescence manifesting through these actual monsters. It's the hardest time of life."
Fans have been reacting to the news on Twitter, with many displeased with the idea of it being remade as opposed to re-visited with the original cast.
Re: Buffy reboot. Buffy is one of those rare characters who will stand the test of time like Sherlock Holmes. My generation was lucky to get her at the beginning. Now it’s time for someone else to tell another version of her story. And that’s ok.

I do not care for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot unless it's about another Slayer!

The original series was perfect, they don't need to re do it!!!!
Can we get over this reboot era, I'm BORED of it!

Why
We already had it and it was great
Why not just follow a brand new slayer and keep the setting
Why not make something new
Stop rebooting
Just stoppit
We're running out of boots
Rebooting Buffy instead of continuing the story with a next-generation Slayer is such a colossally stupid idea.

Apparently Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting a reboot. My first gut reaction to this is fear. Leave the property alone it was and still is brilliant. Name the new show something different, place it in the same world and link it but please don't try and remake it.
