Nancy Sinatra Senior, Frank Sinatra's first wife and mother of his three children, has died in the US at the age of 101.

Singer Nancy Sinatra Junior shared the news of her mother's passing on Twitter, writing: "My mother passed away peacefully tonight [Friday] at the age of 101.
"She was a blessing and the light of my life. Godspeed, Momma. Thank you for everything."

Born Nancy Barbato, Nancy Sinatra Sr met fellow New Jersey resident Frank Sinatra when they were teenagers and the couple married in 1939. They had three children together: Nancy Jr, Frank Jr and Tina.
The Sinatras separated in 1950 and their divorce was finalised in 1951. Nancy Sinatra Sr never remarried.

Frank Sinatra was subsequently married to actress Ava Gardiner from 1951 to 1957; actress Mia Farrow from 1966 to 1968; and former model Barbara Marx from 1976 until his death in 1998.
Nancy Sinatra Sr is predeceased by her son, singer Frank Jr, who died in 2016 at the age of 72.
