Keri Russell has begun talks to join the cast of the next Star Wars film.
Fresh off the ending of acclaimed US TV drama The Americans, in which she played alongside Matthew Rhys as a couple of Soviet spies in 1980s' America, Russell is heading for a galaxy far, far away and reunite with Episode IX director JJ Abrams.
The pair worked together in the past as Abrams co-created the television series Felicity, where Russell was the lead star, and also directed her in Mission: Impossible III.
It's reported that Abrams and Lucasfilm executives met Russell and several other actresses, but settled on The Americans' star.
It has yet to be determined what role Russell will play, but little is known about Star Wars: Episode IX, other than that Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver are all expected to return for the concluding chapter in the Sequel Trilogy.
