Rod Stewart's new album, Blood Red Roses is due out on September 18 but the singer has said he has been wary of releasing it during his US summer touring schedule with Cyndi Lauper.
"You know how difficult it is to try and convince people to listen to brand new songs when you've got so many songs that they want to hear," he told Lauper in an interview. "We'll see how it goes."
Stewart wrote eleven tracks for the project although whether they will see the light of day on this occasion is not certain. The musician's most recent album, Another Country, was released in 2015.
Rod Stewart told Pulse of his belief that it was his distinctive voice which appealed to fans from the start, both with the Faces and as a solo act.
"I know that’s what got people’s attention. With my first couple albums, it wasn’t necessarily my songwriting. It was my style of singing, and the odd cover versions I did on my first two albums - the covers and the wide range of material that my voice would allow me to cover."
