Oldschool's in! Dublin is ready for its close-up in new film

The breathless trailer for the eagerly-awaited Dublin Oldschool has been released, and it looks like film fans are in for another homegrown treat when it opens in cinemas next month.

Based on writer and star Emmet Kirwan's acclaimed play of the same name, Dublin Oldschool tells the story of Jason (played by Kirwan), an aspiring DJ whose no-tomorrow lifestyle takes another twist when he crosses paths with his estranged brother Daniel (played by Ian Lloyd Anderson), a homeless heroin addict.

The cast of the film also includes Seána Kerslake, Sarah Greene and Mark O'Halloran with director and co-writer Dave Tynan describing his cast and crew as "extraordinary".

"I'm particularly proud I made it with the same gang I've been working with for years," said the filmmaker.

"It means an awful lot to me, too, that this film will be shown on the big screen. Raves and cinemas are communal experiences; I can't wait for crowds to see it in the dark together."
