The 2FM presenter shared the news on Instagram and Twitter, posting, "Majorca here I come! Delighted to be joining the @itvstudios family as the narrator of Love Island Australia!

"I sat up one night at the kitchen table months ago writing the audition script & had such a blast."

McDermott heaped praise on Love Island UK narrator Iain Stirling, who is in a relationship with McDermott's friend Laura Whitmore, saying he "absolutely made the UK series."
