Could the Shelby clan be about to don tights and leotards for a ballet version of hit BBC crime drama Peaky Blinders?

Well, the show's creator Steven Knight has revealed his plans for a ballet version of the Birmingham-based gangster yarn.

The BBC reports that Oscar-nominated Knight had been approached by the UK's Rambert dance company about doing an all-dancing version of the show.

Ballet not bullets

"I had a meeting with Ballet Rambert who want to do Peaky Blinders - The Ballet. I'm saying 'why not?'" Knight said.

The most recent series of the drama, which stars Cork-born actor Cilian Murphy, was the most successful yet and Knight told the Birmingham Press Club he is planning three more series of the drama.

He is also asking the BBC to film more of the show in his home city.

Knight is currently writing season five of Peaky Blinders and he said: "We are definitely doing [series] six and we will probably do seven. After series four it went mad.

"We've talked to Cillian Murphy and he's all for it, and the rest of the principal cast are in for it."
