Following his sacking from Amazon drama Transparent for alleged sexual misconduct, Netflix has confirmed that actor Jeffrey Tambor will appear in the upcoming fifth season of Arrested Development.

Amazon cut all ties with the Emmy-winning actor following claims of sexual harassment from co-star Trace Lysette and Tambor's own former assistant Van Barnes.

Tambor has denied the claims.

Arrested Development is due back on Netflix soon

Speaking on Friday, a Netflix spokesperson told website Vulture that Tambor will feature in Arrested Development when it returns.

He has dual roles on the show - the feuding Bluth family's scheming father George Bluth and his hippy brother Oscar.

Tambor's Arrested Development co-star David Cross has said that the cast were supporting their friend in the wake of the allegations.

Speaking earlier this year, Cross said: "I can't speak for everybody, but I know there are a number of us who stand behind him - from the limited amount we know, we stand behind Jeffrey - and I am one of them."

Tambor has denied all sexual misconduct accusations against him and has also hit out at former employers Amazon and producer Jill Soloway for dropping him from Transparent.

"In our four-year history of working together on this incredible show, these accusations have NEVER been revealed or discussed directly with me or anyone at Amazon," he insisted.

"Therefore, I can only surmise that the investigation against me was deeply flawed and biased toward the toxic politicized atmosphere that afflicted our set.

"As I have consistently stated, I deeply regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone and I will continue to vehemently defend myself. I also deeply regret that this ground-breaking show, which changed so many lives, is now in jeopardy. That, to me, is the biggest heartbreak."
