Fair City star Jenny Dixon has said that her character Kerri-Ann is "fixated on getting out of this and protecting her family" after the big reveal on Thursday night.

Warning: spoiler alert!

During Thursday night's episode on RTÉ One fans discovered that Kerri-Ann stabbed Karen, with star Dixon promising that there are plenty of twists still ahead.

So now we know...

"Kerri-Ann is in a juxtaposed position of essentially being a completely moralistic and good character, duty- bound, yet also completely motivated by the desire for her happy family dream, her romance, her baby girl," Dixon explained.

"She will try to maintain her secret for the good of her baby who needs her mother and her father, the family around her. She is in maternal protection mode."

When asked how things will play out in the coming episodes, Dixon replied: "Kerri-Ann is not sleeping or eating. She's fixated on getting out of this and protecting her family.

"She spirals into obsessive thoughts and actions, cleaning the weapon multiple times - an obsession that won't go away. She changes the hiding place several times.

"That fateful night"

"She's in a place of extreme turmoil and her erratic behaviour is being noted."

Fair City is back on RTÉ One on Wednesday May 9.
