Brian Wilson confirmed that he is in good health after recent back surgery and the singer will perform two intimate shows at Vicar Street, on  August 21 and 22.

"I was totally blown away by all of the well wishes I received from everyone regarding my surgery, it was overwhelming and I so appreciate it," said the iconic musician and arranger, who was the musical dynamo behind the Beach Boy hits of the 1960s and 1970s.

"The surgery went very well and my doctor says there were no surprises and they were able to take care of what they needed to," Wilson said in his statement.

"Melinda and I are very grateful for all the doctors and nurses who have taken such good care of me. I look forward to singing and playing with my band soon and getting back in the studio." Melinda is the wife of singer-songwriter.

Wilson's guests at Dublin’s Vicar Street are  Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, who were both members of the Beach Boys in the 1970s.

Blondie Chaplin reunited with Wilson in 2013, 40 years after they had performed together in the Beach Boys. The South African-born musician joined the band in 1972 and he sang the lead vocal on Sail On Sailor, arguably the best track on the outstanding Holland album.

In 2012, the New York Times reported that the Beach Boys' Mike Love had 'kicked out' the band's remaining original members, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine and another long-time member, David Marks.

The decision was set to take effect after their  50th anniversary reunion tour of that year concluded at London's Wembley Arena. Mike Love, in fact, had legal control of the Beach Boys name.

Tickets for Brian Wilson are available now to purchase from Ticketmaster.ie and outlets nationwide.
