Snow Patrol have announced details of a seven date Irish tour, including shows in Dublin's Olympia Theatre and Cork Opera House.

The band will kick off their tour in the Millenium Forum in Derry on May 11 and will take to the stage in Cork (Opera House, May 12), Killarney (INEC, May 14), Dublin (Olympia Theatre, May 15), Wexford (Opera House, May 16) and Galway (Leisureland, May 18) before concluding proceedings at the Ulster Hall in Belfast on May 20.

New album Wilderness is out on May 25

Tickets for all tour dates go on sale at 10.00am on Friday, March 30 via usual outlets, and fans can gain access to an exclusive pre-sale from 10.00am on March 29 by pre-ordering their upcoming new album Wilderness before March 28.

Wilderness, the band's seventh studio album and first record in seven years, is set for release on May 25 and they have just released the new record's first single, Don't Give In.

Lead singer and songwriter, Gary Lightbody, says the song "was originally about a friend going through a tough time" but through writing it he realised it was also about himself.

"The more I wrote into it I realised it was about me and the struggle of making the album - which took 5 years and was not easy - coupled with the struggle with depression I’ve had since I was a kid, so it has become the talisman of the album. The song that became a self-fulfilling prophecy," he said.
