Whoopsie! Mel B appeared to let slip that the Spice Girls will be performing at the wedding of Britain's Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May, joking that she's "going to be fired" for disclosing the information.

The singer was a guest on the American talk show The Real on Tuesday where she was grilled about the wedding.

When she was asked if she knew anybody that was going to be attending, she nodded rapidly and mouthed: "Yeah I'm going", while the hosts became a tad excited.

Mel B added guiltily: "I'm not sure I should have said that."

When asked if she had received an invitation, she replied: "Well, us five Spice Girls", before adding: "Why am I so honest?!"

Mel B was then asked whether she and her fellow Spice Girls - Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham - would be performing at the reception.

She looked down and joked: "This is where I'm just like... I need to go. I'm going to be fired!", before throwing her cue cards into the air.

The 42-year-old singer was also interrogated about the invitation, saying that it did come in a box but refusing to give any further details.

She said: "It's getting too personal to describe it!", but admitted it was "proper".

"I'm not saying any more!" she added with a laugh.

Prince Harry and Prince Charles with the Spice Girls in 1997

Prince Harry famously met the Spice Girls in Johannesburg in 1997 along with his father Prince Charles, and Meghan Markle is said to be a fan of the girlband.

The Spice Girls caused a lot of fanfare at the start of February when they reunited for the first time in years at a meeting in Geri Horner's home. They confirmed that they were working on some "incredible new opportunities".

It was previously rumoured that Ed Sheeran was going to perform at the royal wedding, but the singer-songwriter denied it at the Brit Awards.

"No one's actually looked at my tour dates - I'm in Ireland, I can't do it," he said. "I haven't been asked, either."

Prince Harry and former Suits star Markle announced their engagement in November and are set to tie the knot at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19.
