Barbra Streisand has revealed that two of her Coton de Tulear dogs were cloned from her dog Samantha who died last year.
In an interview with US trade publication Variety, Streisand told journalist Ramin Setoodeh that her dogs Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett were cloned from mouth and stomach cells from 14-year-old Samantha.

"They have different personalities," said Streisand. "I'm waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her brown eyes and her seriousness."
Streisand's third Coton de Tulear, Miss Fanny, is reported to be a "distant cousin".
Streisand explained to Variety that while waiting for Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett, her dog breeder brought her another dog whose mother had been named Funny Girl. Streisand then named Miss Fanny in honour of the stage star she portrayed in the iconic musical Funny Girl, Fanny Brice.
