TV3's new talent show Ireland's Got Talent starts on Saturday evening and judges Louis Walsh and Denise van Outen are understandably excited about it all.

Along with fellow judges Jason Byrne and Michelle Visage, they'll be casting their eyes and opening their ears to a wide range of Irish performers, all hoping to land the first prize of a TV special and €50,000 in cash.

They spoke to us at the channel's recent Autumn launch, and Louis was first off to bat. "It's a modern, contemporary variety show," he says. "Isn't it Denise? What would you call it?"

"Do you know what? I would say, out of all the shows on air, this is one that is for all of the family," says Denise. "You've got all ages. I could sit and watch this with my seven-year-old daughter, or I could sit and watch it with our grandparents.

"It's a really good family entertainment show – it literally has got a bit of everything in it."

"The panel really works on this show," Louis insists. "The two girls are incredible . . . Jason's kind of funny. Lucy Kennedy, we love. She's absolutely brilliant."

Denise adds: "I have to say, as a judging panel we all bring something different, we're all looking for something very different.  But we have real good banter, and a good laugh."

Ireland's Got Talent is on TV3 this Saturday at 7.30pm
