The Ardal O'Hanlon-starring Caribbean crime-drama Death in Paradise has been recommissioned for an eighth series by the BBC.
Having made his debut in season six, O'Hanlon will return as Detective Inspector Jack Mooney on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie next year.

Season seven of Death in Paradise is currently airing on BBC One with the opening episode of the Guadeloupe-filmed show pulling in a UK audience of over 8.2 million viewers.
The BBC has promised that the series will "continue to keep audiences guessing with intriguing mysteries, cunning plot twists and a star-studded array of guest cast" in season eight.

The show's producer, Tim Key, added that there would be "more fun and intrigue - as well as some big surprises" in 2019.
"It's a joy to work on a show that is so loved by its audience and we can't wait to head back to Guadeloupe and start filming later this year," he added.
