Meryl Streep is set to join the cast of Big Little Lies for its second season, as the mother to Alexander Skarsgard's Perry Wright.
Streep, who received her 21st Oscar nomination this week for The Post, will arrive in Monterey after becoming "concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren" following her son's death and "searching for answers," according to a description provided by HBO.
Reese Witherspoon welcomed her new co-star to the show, saying that she is "beyond thrilled" to have the veteran actress acting alongside her.

Big Little Lies has been a huge for success for HBO, winning multiple Emmys, Golden Globes and Sag awards. The second season is scheduled to premiere in 2019.
