US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May have been nominated in the Villain of The Year category at this year's NME Awards, while British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn is among the nominees for Hero of The Year.
Politicians have often featured in the music magazine's reader polls over the years, but Trump has been consistently and roundly criticised by leading figures in the music industry including Madonna, U2 and Eminem since his term of office began.
The president also struggled to find any big name, international musicians or bands who were willing to play at his inauguration last January.

The rise in Corbyn's popularity among young people follows his surprisingly successful performance in last year's British general election due, among other factors, to a larger than usual turn-out among younger voters.
When the Labour leader appeared at the Glastonbury Festival in 2017 he was met with the now-familiar chant of "oh Jeremy Corbyn", which is sung to the melody of Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes.

Former Daily Mail journalist Katie Hopkins, TV presenter and pundit Piers Morgan, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and British health secretary Jeremy Hunt complete the NME's Villain of the Year category.
While Corbyn is joined by singer Ariana Grande, actress Rose McGowan, Wolf Alice front woman Ellie Rowsell, fictional rapper Big Shaq, and naturalist David Attenborough in the Hero of The Year category.
Winners are voted for by the public and announced at a ceremony on February 14.
