"We feel incredibly lucky to have come together at this juncture in our lives when our collective successes and failures can serve as building blocks for a healthy and happy relationship," the pair said in a statement.
The couple met when Paltrow starred as substitute teacher Holly Holliday in several episodes of high school comedy drama Glee. They confirmed they were an item in September 2015.
Media outlets had previously reported that Paltrow and Falchuk actually got engaged a year ago and said that she was wearing an engagement ring.
In 2014, Gwyneth Paltrow's marriage to Coldplay singer Chris Martin ended with a statement that they had "consciously un-coupled".
Martin has since been rumoured to be consciously coupled with 50 Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson.
