Kathryn Thomas spoke to Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show about having two miscarriages and says the subject needs to be talked about more as it is "part of the pregnancy process".
The 39-year-old Operation Transformation presenter, who is expecting her first child with her restaurateur fiancé Padraig McLoughlin in April, explained how she suffered her first miscarriage, at six weeks pregnant, while on holiday in Greece.
The star also shared details about her second miscarriage revealing how it happened the night after having a six-week scan.
"That hit me like a tonne of bricks. It was very difficult to stay positive.
"For me, I knew at 37 at this point, your clock is ticking," Thomas told Tubridy.
"The anxiety never leaves you."
The Carlow native, who is now 27 week pregnant, thinks miscarriage is still a taboo subject in Ireland and reckons "it needs to be part, and considered to be part, of the pregnancy process, because it is."
"There are so many amazing forums out there people who have been through miscarriage. There are so many helplines," she said.
Thomas confirmed her baby joy in November in a cute online post and said at the time that the couple were "over the moon".
Thomas and her husband-to-be got engaged in November last year while they were on a romantic break at Ballyfin House in Co Laois.
The couple met during the summer of 2013 while both were ordering a drink in O'Donoghue's Pub on Baggot Street.
