Former US President Barack Obama has chosen a U2 song for his list of his favourite music from 2017 -  the "Extraordinary Mix" version of Ordinary Love from the deluxe edition of U2's new album, Songs of Experience.

Obama, a keen music fan, also included Kendrick Lamar's Humble, Jay-Z's Family Feud, Harry Styles' Sign of The Times, and Frank Ocean's Chanel on his now annual list of songs.

He also chose The Power by Naomi Alderman, Grant by Ron Chernow and Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond among his favourite books of the year.

Writing on his Facebook page, he said: "During my presidency, I started a tradition of sharing my reading lists and playlists.

"It was a nice way to reflect on the works that resonated with me and lift up authors and artists from around the world. With some extra time on my hands this year to catch up, I wanted to share the books and music that I enjoyed most."
