Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt is in a coma in hospital following a crash on St Stephen's Day in New South Wales, Australia that killed her parents and 21-year-old sister Annabelle.

Providing an update on Jessica's condition, a relative told The Daily Mail Australia: "We're not going to know much about Jessica's real condition for a while.

The neurosurgeon who has been treating her has said that the operation on her brain has gone well but it is just a waiting game.

The relative said: "She could be in a coma for weeks or even months, she still has all the swelling on her brain. They haven't even been able to test her brain yet. They'll probably have to wait a week or two now and see how she responds to the surgery."

According to Australian television network ABC, police claim that the crash was caused by one car being on the wrong side of the road.

Jessica was Hope Morrison on Home and Away in 2016, in the 16 episodes she was in, she was arrested for stealing credit card details and kidnapped by Spike Lowe.
