Wyvern Lingo, Le Boom, Mango x Mathman and Jafaris are among the 12 acts named as part of the RTÉ 2FM Rising list 2018, with the radio station to give them extra support over the next year on air, online and through special performance recordings.

Day_S, Fontaines D.C, Search Party Animal, Lyra, Dermot Kennedy, Laoise and Sorcha Richardson round out the list of Irish musical talent.

The list was compiled by 2FM DJs Tracy Clifford, Louise McSharry, Dan Hegarty and Tara Stewart, and the station's Music Director Alan Swan, and will see each act feature in prime time broadcast hours throughout 2018 with specially produced Studio 8 sessions and online support across 2FM's social media networks.

Speaking about 2FM Rising, Swan said they want to "double down and focus" on supporting unsigned and recently signed Irish acts as much as possible, across all genres of music.

To compile the list, each member of the panel chose their top ten acts, with an average then reached.

"I didn’t want to turn this into a big huge debate, I wanted to get everyone who was on the panel to send me their top ten Irish acts and there would be acts that would cross over," Swan told RTÉ Entertainment.

"At the same time I was amazed by the amount of different acts that we came across in the end through everyone. We took the average of them all and came up with that list."

Swan said the list represents a "really good snapshot" of the Irish music scene at the moment.

"These acts know exactly what they’re about, they know what their sound is, they know who their audience is. It’s a really good snapshot of how the music industry is going in Ireland and if 2FM can help them further, that’s what this is all about," he said.

He added that the "ultimate aim" would be to do a 2FM Rising Tour, saying, "We’re at the planning stage for that at the moment so if we can get on the road and get to as many as our listeners as we can and bring a couple of these acts with us, that would be just unreal."
