Adele viral video stars Glenn & Ronan excited to share original songs with fans

Adele viral video singers Glenn & Ronan are gearing up to release their debut album of original songs, and are excited to share their work with fans after the "whirlwind" that followed joining Adele on stage in the 3Arena last year.

Glenn & Ronan shot to fame when their medley of Adele hits went viral ahead of the singer's tour stop in Dublin in 2016, which led to Adele inviting them to join her on stage in the 3Arena and them appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the US.

"It was responsible for everything really, it was surreal," Ronan Scolard told RTÉ Entertainment of their Adele experience.

"It was such a crazy whirlwind at the time and for months afterwards we were definitely feeling the repercussions of it," Glenn Murphy added.

While they will "always be appreciative" of the attention they gained on a worldwide level through their Adele medley, they are now paving their own way as a singer songwriter duo.

"We'll always have that memory and that experience as the inspiration for what we're doing now, but now that we're writing our own music and stuff, which is something we hadn't been doing before, it's very much, we're finding what we are, and that's great," Glenn said.

Glenn & Ronan's debut single Safe & Sound is out now, and they said there is a "bigger aspect of nerves" with releasing music that they have written themselves.

"I think it's definitely a bigger aspect of nerves when it's something original, so the first original single is out now and before that came out, everything we'd done before was a song that had been out, it had already made its reputation for itself and we were just reinterpreting it," Glenn explained.

Ronan added that it also makes the work they are doing now more exciting, saying, "When you release something that nobody has heard before, from anyone, you have the same worries you have with the cover songs we'd have done – will they like how it sounds and stuff, and the arrangement – but then you're like, will people respect it as a song, will they remember the tune? There's a lot of different elements to it, which make it equally as exciting, if not more exciting."

Safe & Sound is out now, with their full album set for release in February 2018.
