Coronation Street's Kate is set to be devastated when she hears that Rana, who she is madly in love with, is pregnant with Zeedan's baby.
In scenes that will air next week, Luke (Dean Fagan) corners Rana (Bhavna Limbachia) in the Rovers and gives her a piece of his mind about the lack of respect she's showing her husband Zeedan with her secret feelings for Kate (Faye Brookes).
Luke urges Rana to come clean to Zeedan, however he is stopped in his tracks when Rana reveals to him that she's pregnant.
Rana tells Luke that Zeedan and Kate don't know about the baby, but that she now plans to stay with Zeedan as the pregnancy changes everything.
Later, Luke reveals the secret news to Kate, leaving her in turmoil.
Bhavna Limbachia, who plays Rana, said: "Luke is the only one who catches Kate and Rana. From them on, it becomes a struggle for him too, to keep that secret.
"There's a moment in The Rovers where he corners Rana and says: 'How can you make a mug of your husband?' He gets so frustrated and is about to march over to Zeedan and tell him the truth, but he's stopped in his tracks because Rana then drops the bombshell that she's pregnant. And neither Zeedan or Kate know."
When asked whether Rana is really telling the truth about the pregnancy, Limbachia said: "You'll have to wait and see to find out!"
Faye Brookes, who plays Kate, added: "Kate's heart is broken at this point – it has been ever since she realised she was in love with Rana. The fact that she's never going to get her happy ending, that's what her frustration is throughout this whole journey. Kate doesn't ever think it's going to go in her favour.
"So when Kate finds out that Rana is pregnant with Zeedan's child, that's it. The jig's up. It's never going to be anything that Kate wanted it to be, so she's just left in absolute turmoil. There's just a lot of tears – a lot! But it's not the end."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV and TV3.
