Author and businesswoman Ivana Trump, the first wife of US President Donald Trump, appeared on The Ray D'Arcy Show on Saturday night where she said she "doesn't envy" her former husband.

The 68-year-old former model was asked by Ray if she thought Trump would run for a second term. 

She said: "I think he's missing a little bit of his old life. He was in Trump Tower, he would go to Mar-a-Lago, he would go to play golf in Westchester and things like that.

"Now, from 8 o'clock in the morning until midnight he's working, working, working and everybody shoves at him the problems of that country. I don't envy him."

"I think he must be fricking exhausted", she added to laughs from Ray and the studio audience.

Ivana married Donald Trump in 1977. They had three children together, Eric, Donald Jr and Ivanka, before they divorced in 1992. She is currently promoting her memoir Raising Trump which details how she brought up her three children with her then-husband.

In the interview with Ray, Ivana also addressed her public spat with President Trump's wife, and US First Lady, Melania Trump.

Ivana referred herself as "first lady" in an interview to ABC News which prompted a sharply worded response from Melania's communications director who said Melania plans to use her position as First Lady "to help children, not sell books."

"There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex, this is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise", the statement added.

When Ray asked Ivana about the incident, she responded: "I said I was the first Trump lady, and the First Lady went bananas over it. I have no idea why, but I am definitely the first Trump lady. I was married to Donald, I have three kids with him and I have no idea why she resents it.

"Leave it at that, who cares", she concluded to applause from the audience.

And does she thinks Melania is doing a good job at First Lady?

"I think she's trying her best", was Ivana's short response.
