The remaining six X Factor acts battled it out on Saturday night's semi-final for their place in the final and the show ended with Matt Linnen being voted out of the competition.

The Overs singer missed out in a place on the second part of this weekend's semi-finals after coming bottom of the phone vote.

Linnen said he had "loads of fun" and wished all the other contestants the best of luck in the competition, particularly his pal Kevin Davy White.

"It's only the beginning, it's not the end", he told host Dermot O'Leary.

Two more acts will be voted off tomorrow night, ahead of next weekend's live final.

Meanwhile, family trio The Cutkelvins opted to perform an original track. It was a risky choice to air one of their own songs, titled Nothing Like You, in the semi-final, especially given that the theme was Cool Britannia, and it left some viewers a tad puzzled.

The other contestants, Rak-Su, Grace Davies, Lloyd Macey, Matt Linnen and Kevin Davy White, all chose classic tracks that celebrated the best in British music, which seemed more fitting for the theme.

However, it looks like the choice paid off for The Cutkelvins.

Music mogul Simon Cowell called it the "best performance they've done throughout the whole competition", while Nicole Scherzinger said they were "more dynamic than ever."

"This sounds like a hit single to me," Louis Walsh decided.

There was more confusion when judge Louis Walsh told the audience that Lloyd Macey had been banned from performing this week on doctor's orders.

Announcing the news, Walsh said: "I have something to say, Lloyd woke up this morning and his voice was gone."

The audience started booing and Walsh continued: "He was told he couldn't perform, but he's going to perform against the doctor's wishes."

Macey then took to the stage to perform Elton John's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

The performance went down a storm with fans at home.

It was announced during the show that all SIX semi-finalists will be going on The X Factor Tour, with a seventh act set to be chosen via an online vote.

The X Factor continues on Sunday, November 26 on ITV with a dreaded double elimination.
