Coronation Street viewers have hit out at the show's Pat Phelan after he got Anna Windass arrested in Friday night's episode.
Pat (Connor McIntyre) had a breakthrough with his mission to frame Anna (Debbie Rush) for pushing Seb Franklin from his ladder, as she was taken in by police.
He used his powers of manipulation to convince Seb that he saw Anna go into a solicitor's office shortly before he fell. Her earring was then found in the solicitor's office, where Pat had planted it.

Viewers have taken to Twitter in their droves to express their anger over the breakthrough, labelling him an "evil little man".
One poster said, "Pat Phelan you evil man, while another Twitter user said "Oh ya nasty man phelan."
Switching off can't watch anymore . Let me know when phelan gets caught and leaves the show for good. Story line is crap . Sack the writers as well.

@Natashadearn posted: "no one I hate more than Pat bloody Phelan... I don't even want him killed off, I want him to suffer."
Surly in real life the police would ask Rosie,Adam,& Tod if Anna had ever been up to the office! Or had phelan been up there! Which Rosie could confirm, which proves Anna's side of the story that she's been set up! Bad writing!#Corrie

But not everyone was angered by the villainous character, @wrighty called him her "hero".
@Shannon--needles tweeted: "Really hope Phelan never gets his comeuppance, he's the best thing to happen to the soaps in ages."
Daaamn.

How do you frame someone for something they legitimately didn't do?
Pat Phelan knows.
Shame that CCTV doesn't exist on the street...
Earlier on Friday Pat had dished out cash to those who lost money in the flats scam as he sought to change the community's perception of him.
