The Queen is Dead is widely considered The Smiths’ piece de resistance, the highpoint of a short but brilliant career which combined the band’s sadness, bathos and humour in one album of incredible songs that have stood the test of time.

Now Warner Bros. Records has released a newly mastered and expanded version of the album, a reissue which is the first time The Smiths’ back catalogue has been revisited in such a way.

We have a 3CD/1DVD deluxe edition box set up for grabs. There are loads of extra tracks but sadly no tacky badge but we also have a very smart Smiths tote bag and a slip-mat to enjoy alongside your listening pleasure.

Some bags are bigger than others, vicar in a tote-tote etc . . .

CD1 is the 2017 master of the original album and includes such key Smiths tracks as Cemetery Gates, Bigmouth Strikes Again, The Boy With The Thorn In His Side and There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.

CD2 features additional recordings including the full version of the title track and demo versions of Frankly, Mr. Shankly, I Know It’s Over, and Never Had No One Ever.

CD3 is a previously unreleased Live in Boston concert recorded at the Great Woods Center For The Performing Arts on August 5, 1986 and featuring How Soon Is Now?, Hand In Glove, and That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore.

This little beauty also includes a DVD of The Queen Is Dead - A Film By Derek Jarman. As Johnny Marr says, "The Queen Is Dead was epic to make and epic to live."

To be in with a chance of winning the box set, simply complete the title of this song from The Queen is Dead and send your answer to with "The Smiths" in the subject line.
