Irish actor Simon Delaney has hinted that he will reprise his role as charming jewellery salesman Phil Wheeler on Coronation Street following a cameo appearance on the show earlier this year.

The 47-year-old actor, who rose to fame on RTÉ drama Bachelor's Walk and currently co-hosts Ireland AM on TV3, first dropped into Weatherfield last summer to flog his sparkling wares and treat himself to a pint in the Rovers Return.

He was a hit with viewers and there has since been rumours that he will make a more permanent return to the show when he sets up his own jewellery stall in a local market.

Giz a ring, willya?

Speaking to the Irish Sun on Sunday, Delaney said: "There is now talk of Phil coming back but I have no idea if it would be for six weeks or six months.

"The feedback was great, the guy was even trending. I know the producers and the writers take notice of things like that so we will have to see how it goes. To play a character like that was brilliant, so I’d love to do it again."

Delaney recently published a cookbook entitled Simply Simon’s: The Diner Cookbook.
