Searching for the ultimate scare this Halloween season or just some old-fashioned fun? We've rounded up some of the most fangtastic events happening around the nation. 

What? IFI Horrorthon 2017
Where? Irish Film Institute, 6 Eustace St, Temple Bar, Dublin 2
When? October 26 - 30

Ireland’s biggest horror festival is back and once again it is set to showcase the very best in Irish and international horror.  From chilling favourites to hair-raising classics, the diverse series has something for all gore-lovers.

Highlights of the festival include Tobe Hooper's slasher Eaten Alive, about  a psychotic hotel owner uses his guests as pet food, and Giordano Giulivi's The Laplace's Demon which tells the terrifying tale of a group of scientists who are summoned to a mansion on a remote island, only to find that the host has found new applications for their theory.

You are in for a real treat with this one!

What? Farmaphobia
Where? Meath
When? October 13 - 31

Get ready to jump out of your skin and shout your lungs out at Ireland's annual scare park. Located at Causey Farm in Kells, Farmaphobia is constructed on a traditional Irish farm house that is transformed into different terrifying experiences and populated by terrifying creatures.

With 5 eerie and hair-raising Haunt Experiences your nerves will be pushed to the limit. Be afraid, be very afraid!

Interested in seeing the coolest old-fashioned photography in Dublin? Stokerface is a free exhibition at the forefront of this year's Bram Stoker Festival. The photography project pays tribute to some of Ireland's leading creative and inspiring artists across music, theatre, food, poetry, comedy, fashion, film and festivals.

The portraits were snapped recently by Alex Sapienza of The Analogue Studio, Ireland's only 19th century photography studio specialising in wet plate collodion and vintage portraiture.

What: Wicklow Historic Gaol Night Time Tour

Hauntingly lit by candlelight, the Halloween Ghostly Night Performance will be a night to remember. The unique experience is made up of readings and performances of some of the spooky tales from Lafcadio Hearn's vast collection of Japanese legends and ghost stories. A real treat that's not to be missed!

What? Interview with the Vampire by Neil Jordan
Where? The Sugar Club, Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2
When? Tues, October 31

Beat the back-to-work blues by sinking your teeth into Neil Jordan's spooky fantasy drama. Based on Bram Stoker's classic 1897 novel, this film from Francis Ford Coppola and screenwriter James Victor Hart offers a full-blooded portrait of the immortal Transylvanian vampire.
